Lake - Tsunamis

This work package aims to characterize coastal tsunami layers that were deposited during tsunami inundation and backwash in near-shore depression and marshland around peri-Alpine Swiss lakes. Based on coastal tsunami layers, we will establish a tsunami event catalogue covering the the post glacial period. This event catalogue provides an independent measure to validate tsunami-wave occurrence and involved energies (e.g inundation and run-up). This is essential to quantify tsunami hazard in coastal areas of peri-Alpine lakes. Moreover, data obtained by other work packages will be compared and validated with the analysis of coastal tsunami layers.
